Classroom Supplies for the Teacher

Are you getting ready to go back to school?  I go back in about a week and a half and feel like I am frantically trying to get things ready!  Where did the summer go?

I have gathered some great ideas that will hopefully help you get your school year off to a great start!  As always, if you click the pictures, you will be taken to the originators of these wonderful ideas.

This idea for Orientation Night or Meet The Teacher Night is from Lesson Plan SOS.  I really like the extra touch of the vase filled with apples matching the apple shapes on the tray.  The apples on the tray list extra needs parents can choose to send in to help.  The cute apple shape helps keep it from being lost.

This idea from Monica at Welcome to the Schroeder Page has got to be one of the CUTEST and best ideas for the first day of school that I have seen!!  They are tattoos that you hand out on Meet the Teacher Night.  She had them made at Amazon.  The tattoos say that the child belongs Mrs. Schroeder in room 331.  What a great stress reliever to have this on your child's hand if you can't take your young one to the first day of school.  A lot of young students cannot remember who their teacher is and this could bring some peace to both parent and child.   Love, love this!

These cute balloons are from Ms. Male over at A Day in the Life of a Classroom Teacher.  I have seen balloons on kids' desks before, but she has some really cute ones and she went to the extra step of adding their names.  That extra step of personalizing them just makes it more special to the students and parents.  She has another picture on her post (click the picture) of another cute idea to do with student names.  Check it out!

Do you have a teacher survival kit for yourself?  Every teacher should have a kit with little essentials you may need to get through those tough days.  Triple Nap shows some thing you could include in your kit.  But make it your own and add things that YOU might need.  I would include small safety pins for those wardrobe malfunctions, dental floss, and maybe some quarters for a soda!

This is a sweet and touching prayer for the children who will be in our care this coming school year.  May we watch over them, teach them, and love who they are!

Just added these new items for the beginning of the year.

I will be posting about Search and Sort Read & Write the Room activities hopefully soon.  This is a great way for students to practice, ABCs in this one.  What makes this one different is when they sort the letters, they then must read their sorts to a partner.  It does the children no good to copy what they don't know!

I will be posting soon on these too.  I will be using these posters as I teach this year to help the students with reading comprehension strategies.  They are written in kid friendly, I Can statements.  I also included student inserts that students glue in their reading journal notebooks as they use the skills and then write about it.  Click the pictures to see either one!

Have a wonderful weekend everybody!!

  5. I think the tattoos are needed for kindergarten students too, Bridget. They get lost and so nervous!

  6. If I had a regular class, Tammy, I would think about doing the balloons too. Kids would be so excited about them!
